This is a 1:18 scale diecast replica model of the Holden Monaro HK GTS 327 as raced in the 1968 Hardie-Ferodo 500 at Bathurst driven by Des West and Ron Marks.
Having finished the 1968 Hardie-Ferodo 500 in second place on the road, the Lorack Motors car was disqualified after post-race scrutineering found that the inlet valve diameter was not the same specification as the diameter in the workshop manual for the car. Workshop manuals in the Series Production era of the race were the equivalent to the Vehicle Specification Documents (VSD) used in Supercars racing these days.
Eventually the dispute landed in the highest motor sport court of the land, the Australian Motor Sport Appeals Court in early 1969, where the court ruled that while the team had ordered a replacement cylinder head from a Holden Dealer, and according to the team, that was the only one available, that head did not match the specification required, and the disqualification stood.
This 1:18 diecast replica represents this significant piece of Bathurst history, a front row starting and lap 1 leading car from the days where a 2:59 lap time would land you on the front row in qualifying!
It is scheduled to be produced in the first quarter of 2026 by Classic Carlectables and is limited to just 750 units.
