Since the very first Australian Touring Car Championship race held at Gnoo-Blass in 1960, Holden has been a mainstay on the grid competing in the premier category of Australian motorsport.
Over 1000 race starts, a glittering history and a legion of passionate fans later, Holden’s time will come to an end at the 2022 Adelaide 500 where the brand will make its final racing appearance in the championship.
Their time racing in ATCC / Supercars has seen Holden attain a legendary position in the history of the sport which may not be surpassed, winning more than 50% of the races they have started while claiming a raft of podiums, pole positions and 23 driver’s championships along the way.
Australia’s premier motor race at Bathurst has also been a happy hunting ground for the lion. Holden have claimed 36 wins of ‘The Great Race’ - the most of any brand at the hands of some of the greatest drivers to ever turn a wheel.
To commemorate Holden’s significant achievements across ATCC/Supercars history, Authentic Collectables are proud to present this incredible Holden VF Commodore featuring a very special livery by renowned motorsport designer Peter Hughes.
Hughes, a GM Automotive Designer for many years and the man who has designed many of the Holden’s famous race winning liveries has worked in collaboration with us to create this stunning End of an Era model for Holden fans:
“What a privilege it was to be asked to create the ‘End of an Era’ Holden livery for Authentic Collectables. With the model having such an important message and historical significance, I wanted to deliver a look for collectors that just screamed ‘Holden Forever’” Hughes said.
“Because of that, the livery itself will feel pretty familiar to the Holden Motorsport fan, with traditional use and placement of the racing lion on the hood and rear doors. I dabbled with other ideas but it just had to be this way for the end of an era. The real individual part of this livery is the unique ‘tribute gold‘, chosen to compliment the contrasting black. Not only does it look very special, it also signifies that the Holden Era was also a ‘Golden Era’ in Australian Motorsport History.”
“I hope everyone enjoys this very special piece of Holden history.”
As Hughes mentioned, Holden’s time in ATCC/Supercars really has been a golden era and this model truly represents that.
The VF Commodore is the perfect platform to represent this success and features various statistics and nods to the remarkable history of Holden in ATCC/Supercars which have been incorporated into the livery. It’s an absolute must have for fans.
The 1:12 scale model has been produced in high quality sealed body resin with clear windows and detailed interior in a limited edition with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity signed by Peter Hughes.
