This is a 1:43 diecast scale model Ford Mustang as driven in the 2023 Penrite Oil Sandown 500 by David Reynolds and Garth Tander.
2017 Bathurst 1000 winner David Reynolds entered the 2023 Supercars season in his third year with Grove Racing, racing the #26 Penrite backed Mustang. True to Penrite's form as a major partner who enjoys updating their race liveries, the team raced a number of different colour schemes across the season and perhaps their best example of this was their retro paint job raced at the Penrite Oil Sandown 500.
Joined by 5-time Bathurst 1000 winner Garth Tander on co-driving duties for the endurance races, the retro #26 Mustang was inspired by Allan Moffat's 1979 Ford XC Federation Falcon. The livery was designed to honour Moffat's contribution to Australian motorsport while also raising awareness of, and support for, patients and families affected by dementia - a disease Moffat publicly disclosed he was battling earlier in the year.
This 1:43 scale model is scheduled to be produced in high quality sealed body die-cast with clear windows, detailed racing cockpit and undercarriage details unique to the Gen3 floorpan.
Comprised of roughly 65 individual metal and plastic parts plus anywhere between 50-100 steps in paint and decoration finishing, this is a high quality collectors model for fans of this scale.
It has been produced in an exclusive one-off limited edition, presented in a display case with the model attached to a white base plate which features the car details printed on it. An individually numbered backing board featuring the edition number is also included as part of the package and acts as the Certificate of Authenticity for the release.
