The best ever Bathurst?
Arguably the best ever Bathurst 1000, the 2014 race had thrills, spills, animals on track, crashes under the Safety Car, a red flag and a last lap lead change that saw Chaz Mostert and Paul Morris win their first Bathurst 1000 race.
The track surface reached breaking point at one third distance, with the race having to be stopped while officials repaired the broken bitumen. The subsequent red flag pushed out the race to an almost eight hour duration.
A thrilling race with 11 different leaders, saw Jamie Whincup run out of fuel on the final lap, and a young Chaz Mostert push through to take the win. It also served as redemption for Paul Morris, finally achieving a well deserved Bathurst victory after his disqualification from the 1997 Super Touring race due to a team indiscretion.
